Supermarket retailers play a pivotal role in bringing beef to the American public, and we truly value this strong partnership. We developed the National Retail Beef Backer awards program to recognize retailers that go above and beyond to promote beef to their customers.

These awards recognize four supermarket retailers that do an outstanding job of marketing and merchandising beef at the meat case in the categories of: 

• Innovator of the Year - The winner of this category can be a chain or independent retailer. This special honoree will be chosen at the judges’ discretion based on all selection criteria
• Independent Retailer - fewer than 11 retail stores
• Mid-size Retailer - 11-99 retail stores
• Large Chain Retailer - 100+ retail stores

Winners chosen over the years have built successful beef programs that go the extra mile in marketing beef. Winners have been selected for things like implementing promotions that drive beef sales, demonstrating a commitment to customer service and safety, introducing creative new promotions, training meat case employees about beef or their involvement in checkoff-funded programs aimed at innovative new ways to drive beef sales.
