Here are just a few ways stores can help shoppers better understand where their beef comes from.
- Invite a rancher to participate in demos to chat with shoppers in an approachable environment as they try samples and can engage with shoppers one-on-one.
- Showcase a “Rancher’s Favorite” beef recipe at the meat case or in demos.
- Display point-of-sale signage with imagery of local beef ranchers. Include details like their operation’s name, ranch history and distance from the store to highlight local products.
- Post a guest blog of a local beef farmer. Include photos of the ranch and tell a “day in the life” story.
- Host a live Q&A with ranchers and shoppers on your store’s Facebook or Twitter pages.
- Encourage shoppers to ask questions about how beef is raised, but also tips on how to prepare and serve beef.

Enable store staff to be shoppers’ go-to experts on modern beef production
- Coordinate a tour for staff of a local beef operation whether it’s a cow-calf operation, feedlot, or processing facility. Upon their return, encourage them to share their experience at a team meeting.
- Incorporate Beef Checkoff training programs into staff trainings:
