2009 Promotional Calendar

There are opportunities all year for you to tie into national promotions to increase beef sales in your retail operation. Visit this page often, as regular updates will keep you ahead of the game as you plan your meat case promotions throughout the year.

The Beef Checkoff also teams up with industry partners on free standing inserts (FSIs).  These FSIs will appear in newspapers in markets throughout the U.S. to help keep beef top of mind with consumers.  Also, they will often include coupons as an incentive for consumers to buy beef in your stores.  Specific FSI information appears with the corresponding promotion information below.

January - September

  • Kraft® A.1.® Steak Sauce In-Store Promotion - This promotion offers $1 off beef coupon with the purchase of A.1. Coupons include beef recipes. More than 5 million coupons on A.1. displays and 250,000 that are Instant Redeemable Coupons (IRCs) on beef packaging. April - July

  • Michelob A.1.Hormel Food's CHI CHI's® and Herdez® Brands Promotions - These promotions run April 20 - July 12. CHI CHI's east of Mississippi and Herdez west of Mississippi. In-store displays with coupon tearpads and IRCs for $2 off beef with the purchase of salsa. Recipe include. Total of 400,000 beef on-pack coupons (200,000 per brand), along with 1,000,000 tearpad coupons (400,000 for CHI CHI's and 600,000 for Herdez). Full-page free standing insert (FSI) will launch May 17 for CHI CHI's brand to draw attention to in-store coupon opportunity. For more details, read the letter of introduction

April - July

May

  • Alberto-Culver's Mrs. Dash® and California Cheese Healthy Beef Salad Promotion - An FSI with a circulation of approximately 50 million will help generate awareness about this promotion. 10,000 Mrs. Dash displays with IRC tearpads for $1 off beef with the purchase of Mrs. Dash. Stickers on beef packages will offer $0.50 off cheese with the purchase of beef. For more details, read the letter of introduction.

May - June

  • Kraft® A.1.® and Anheuser-Busch's Michelob® brand Memorial Day Promotion - Money saving in-store coupons available in tearpadsthat feature steak and burger recipes. For more details, read the letter of introduction.

May - August

  • Sutter Home® Build a Better Burger® Promotion - Displays in approximately 10,000 stores with 3,500 featuring large mobile displays. National radio and print ads will be featured on Lifestyle Web sites. The contest winner receives a cash prize of $50,000. For more details, read the letter of introduction.

June - July

  • Kraft® A.1.® and Anheuser-Busch's Bud Select® July 4th Promotion - Money saving in-store coupons available in tearpads that feature steak and burger recipes. For more details, read the letter of introduction.

June - August

  • Kraft® A.1.® Steak Sauce "Make Your Burger Sing" FSI to drop June 14 and August 16, with distributions of 45.3 million.  See the FSI.  A second version of the FSI includes a mention of the Burger King Steak House XT burger.

August - September

  • TailgatingKraft®A.1.® and Anheuser-Busch's Budweiser® Tailgating Promotion - Money saving in-store coupons available in tearpads that feature steak and burger recipes. For more details, read the letter of introduction.

September

  • Hormel's House of Tsang Promotion - In-store displays containing bottles of House of Tsang oils, sauces and marinades featuring neck hangers with IRCs. 500,000 coupons with recipes will be distributed. More information will be available soon.

  • Sutter Home Tailgating Promotion - $1 off beef coupon with purchase of Sutter Home wine. More information will be available soon.
