Tie into Summer Promotions to Offer Customers Huge Savings

As you plan merchandising ideas for the summer months, be sure to take advantage of all the great summer promotions. Work with the other departments in your store to promote beef and beef-related items, and watch your sales soar!

Here’s an outline of beef checkoff-funded promotions running during the summer months. Many of them kickoff in May!

The Perfect Pair – Beef and A.1.
Promotion Details: January - December: Kraft A.1. ® Steak Sauce In-Store Promotion
Perfection results when you pair a popular steak sauce with the most popular protein! This promotion includes a $1 off beef coupon with the purchase of A.1. The coupons include beef recipes. More than 2.5 million coupons will be available as part of A.1. displays in approximately 20,000 stores.

Merchandising Idea: Place a bottle of A.1. beside the steaks you’re featuring on sale. Include a cut out of the $1 off beef coupon and directions to your store’s display.

Provide an Easy Meal Solution at a Great Value
Promotion Details: March - June: Heinz’s Classico® and New York Texas Toast® Beef Bolognaise Recipe Promotion
This promotion gives busy moms an easy recipe and savings on the ingredients. The full-page FSI featured a $1.50 off beef coupon with the purchase of two Classico pasta sauces. The FSI dropped on March 14 with a circulation of 45 million, so customers in these markets will be storming your meat case coupon-in-hand ready to buy.

Merchandising Idea: Create a display of Classico Pasta sauces right by the meat case. Customers will have their coupons and will want to pick up both items.

Give Customers Huge Savings for Memorial Day!
Promotion Details: May: Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Family brand Memorial Day Promotion
Your customers can get huge savings with this promotion! In-store tearpads on Bud Family displays in 20,000 stores include up to $15 in mail-in rebate offers for beef. All rebates include a beef recipe. In-store displays include headers, end cap displays, tearpads and/or booklets. Circulation is 750,000 – 1 million. This promotion is available in all states except: ID, IN, LA and MN.

Merchandising idea: Throw a beach ball and a few red white and blue decorations around the meat case. Put up signage that says “Need extra spending money for your Memorial Day getaway? Save up to $15 with this mail-in rebate offer!”

Hispanic Customers Will Love these Savings
Promotion Details: May - July 4: Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Family Hispanic Promotion
This promotion targets the Hispanic population as they heat up their grills this summer. In-store tearpads on Bud Family displays include up to $10 in mail-in rebate offers for beef in 20,000 stores. Promotion rebate includes $6 off beef purchase only and $10 off beef and beer purchase in states where allowed. In-store displays include headers, end cap displays, tearpads and/or booklets. Circulation is 750,000. This promotion is available in all states except: ID, IN, LA and MN.

Merchandising idea: Include signage in Spanish and English around the meat case to direct customers to the Bud Family displays. If you have room in the meat department, set up a beer display.

Make it a Taco Night
Promotion Details: May 15 - July: Snyder’s of Hanover® Promotion
Give customers an affordable and easy meal option with savings on beef and tortilla chips for a taco night. In-store displays feature an Instant Redeemable Coupon (IRC) for $2 off beef with the purchase of any 2 Snyder’s 16 oz. pretzels or tortilla chips, 10 oz. flavored pieces, nibblers or pretzel chips. Circulation is 2.5 million.

Merchandising idea: Place a display of Snyder’s products near the meat case. Include signage that says, "What’s for dinner? Make it a taco night!" Include recipe cards featuring the Confetti Beef Tacos recipe so your customer can grab everything they need.

Another idea is to season ground beef, cook it in a slow cooker and put out with a bowl of chips for sampling.

Think Your Customers May Want to Win $100,000?
Promotion Details: May - August: Sutter Home® Build a Better Burger® Promotion
One of the biggest yearly promotions celebrates it’s 20th Anniversary this year! It includes a full-page FSI calling attention to a beef coupon to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Build a Better Burger promotion. Displays in approximately 10,000 stores include case cards, danglers, neckers and shelf talkers. The promotion also includes national radio ads and print ads with beef logos. Cash prize is $100,000. FSI drop date is May 23 with a circulation of 45 million. The Build a Better Burger promotional coupon is available in all states except: AK, CO, CT, DE, GA, ID, KY, KS, OK, MN, MD, NE, ND, NY, NJ, PA, RI, TN, WV and VT. Click here to download the FSI. Merchandising idea: Include signage near the ground beef section of your meat case. "$100,000 could fund quite the summer vacation! Enter your burger recipe for a chance to win!" Direct them to the displays and hang the FSI over the meat case.

Give Customers an Easy Dinner Solution
May - September: Hormel Food’s CHI-CHI’s®, Herdez® and La Victoria® Brands Promotions
Savings on beef and salsa give a great opportunity for a variety of meals from tacos to nacho pizza.

CHI-CHI’s: A half-page FSI will call attention to on-pack labels featuring a $2 off beef coupon with the purchase of CHI-CHI’s salsa. Labels will include a beef recipe. The promotion includes more than 14,000 displays carrying 600,000 IRCs for $2 off beef with purchase of salsa. Coupons will include a beef recipe. The FSI drop date is May 23 with a circulation of 30 million.

Herdez: This promotion includes 5,000 displays carrying up to 800,000 IRC tearpads for $2 off beef with purchase of Herdez salsa. Coupons will include a beef recipe.

La Victoria: A full-page FSI will feature a $1 off beef coupon with the purchase of La Victoria salsa. The promotion also includes 3,000 in-store displays with 500,000 IRCs for $2 off beef with purchase of La Victoria salsa and 300,000 on-pack IRCs for $2 off beef with purchase of salsa. Floor graphics and shelf talkers will be used in store. FSI drop date is June 13 with a circulation of 12.5 million. This promotion is available in CA only.

Merchandising idea: Encourage your customers to try something different for dinner. Give them recipes cards for Spicy Nacho Beef Pizza, which takes only takes 35 minutes to prepare and cook. Your customers can save time and money with this promotion.

Eating Healthy? This one’s for you.
May - September: Alberto-Culver’s Mrs. Dash® Healthy Beef Salad Promotion
A full-page FSI includes $1 off beef coupon with purchase of Mrs. Dash product. A $1 off beef IRC with purchase of Mrs. Dash on case-ready beef is available in store in select accounts. A beef recipe will be featured in an e-mail blast.

A "Healthy Flavors of America" 30-minute cooking television show featuring Executive Chef Dave Zino and a healthy beef salad recipe will be broadcast on Comcast CN8 Channel reaching approximately 23 million households and on Public broadcasting to reach 50 million households in top 20 US media markets. The FSI drop date is May 16 with a circulation of 50 million. Find out which newspapers in your area will carry the coupon.

Merchandising idea: Hang the FSI in the meat department along with the newspaper name and date it ran. Set up a display of Mrs. Dash near the meat case so people who have their coupon can grab and go!

Merchandising idea: Use signage by the meat case, "Save up to $10 on beef!" with directions to the location of the in-store displays.
